Voices Carried by the Sea (2025) is an audio intervention curated by G/HOSTING (Nina Cramer and Mai Takawira) at the Danish Maritime Museum in the permanent exhibition Seafarer. We commissioned five authors write new texts responding to objects in the exhibition. The texts are critical and poetic rewritings of Denmark's history as a maritime colonial power. The authors use fiction as a tool to explore experiences and perspectives that otherwise go untold in the exhibition.
The project features the following texts:
VI [WE] by Mikas Lang
Jeg er peberen [I Am Pepper] by Sabitha Söderholm
Tran er trannet Jessie Kleemann
Run Away [Bortløben] by Tiphanie Yanique
At fortælle fremmede [Forms of Foreigners] by Jesper Wung-Sung.
The contributions are available in Danish, English, and Kalaallisut.
